I have a First-Class Honors degree in Physical Education, Sports and Exercise Science and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education with Distinction from Canterbury Christ Church University. Over the last seven years, I have gained experience as a PE teacher at a comprehensive school in London, and two British International Schools - Washington, DC and Prague, Czech Republic.
I am also an experienced and qualified Level 3 Personal Trainer, having worked at Crystal Palace National Sports Center and a UK College with Olympic hopefuls and members of the general public. With regard to sports coaching, I am a Level 3 England Basketball Coach and USA Basketball Gold License Coach with over 10-years of experience. I have coached both local and National League Basketball in England, Elementary and High School Basketball in DC and Prague, and have attended and worked at numerous basketball camps.
During this last year, I have also been completing a Master in International Education, and created my own website with teaching articles and resources called ‘The PE Project’ (https://www.thepeproject.com a target=”_blank”).
I also have qualifications and experience in a range of other sports including football, swimming, rugby, baseball/softball, athletics, gymnastics, tennis, badminton, and dance.
I was born and raised in the Southeast of England, and am youngest of four siblings. I spent the majority of my youth obsessed with basketball, playing for the London Towers and representing my county. My career highlights include winning a silver medal in the National Basketball League U20’s, being selected as an All-Star and Best Defensive Player at the Nike Basketball Camp UK, and training with the London Towers Men’s professional team for two years.
Nowadays, I enjoy taking part in a range of sports and activities, but generally opt for the gym, cycling, or playing basketball.
Outside of sport, I enjoy spending time with my wife Chantal, and we look forward to checking out different food spots around Chicago. We also enjoy meeting new people, spending time with friends, and exploring the city.
I am excited to join the British International School of Chicago, South Loop for a number of reasons. However, the most prominent include: their commitment to providing personalized learning experiences; the support and guidance they provide students to become ambitious, adaptable, and internationally-minded citizens; and for joining their dedicated and passionate Physical Education team.
