I started my professional career at Harris Academy South Norwood in South London. While there, I taught a range of business-related subjects including Business Studies A- Level and GCSE, Accounting A- Level, Economics AS- Level and KS3 ICT. At the school, I was given the opportunity to be responsible for our school specialism, Business and Enterprise. This included coordinating cross- curricular enterprise activities and facilitating the use of enterprise in teaching and learning.
I came to BISC because I had previously worked on placement in Hong Kong for four weeks. I enjoyed the experience so much that I knew I wanted to experience working abroad again. When the opportunity at BISC arrived, I knew this would be my chance to develop myself as an international teacher and to stretch my teaching ability to the highest level.
BISC is different to all others schools because of the teaching quality amongst the staff and the encouragement for us to take risks in our teaching. Our students engage with multiple outside educational influences on a regular basis, e.g. World of Work Week, Shakespeare Immersion Week, and Model U.N.
There are two things outside of the classroom that I love: sport and cooking. When moving to my first privately rented apartment in Chicago, I made the choice solely based on the fact that there is space for a grill on the balcony! Sport usually dominates my weekends, often watching soccer (specifically Manchester City) with friends or down the gym trying to get fit to start playing sport again.
