Lucinda Wain

Lucinda Wain

Head of Humanities | Social Studies Specialist

I studied Ancient History at the University of Birmingham and then did my PGCE at UCL. I have worked in schools in London for the past 8 years. In my current school – a boys grammar – I have been head of Citizenship and History.

I am an enthusiastic traveler – I love exploring the world, both with my students on school trips and in my school holidays. On recent trips I have visited Malawi, Iceland, South Africa and the USA – spending some great time in Chicago before I knew I would be working here. I love pursuing my enthusiasm for History through travelling, by visiting different historical sites. I like to stay active and I am a keen skier – I did two years living and working in ski resorts after university. I like cooking, reading and spending time with friends and family.

How is BISC-SL different to other school that I have worked in?

Firstly, it is abroad which is a new experience for me – this is my first time in an international school which is really exciting, especially that it's in Chicago which is such an awesome city. I’m also excited by the breadth of the curriculum and the way that students can really design a school experience that is personal for them.
