A WORLD OF ADVENTURE AND GROWTH AWAITS YOUR CHILD

A SUSTAINABLE “NOW” LEADS TO A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

At CDS, we give our students unparalleled opportunities to learn beyond the classroom with the expectation that they’ll live up to the challenges they’re posed with, take initiative, and create impact with their knowledge, skills, and talents.

Our can-do attitude and resilient approach to learning feeds into our school and community-wide commitment to sustainability. We cherish all the connections and resources we have on campus, so we can make positive contributions in our surroundings and throughout the world.

Our After-school Program
As our students grow, they participate in activities, enjoy games, share experiences with peers, connect with creativity, and build their team spirit. Our After-school Program’s offerings are framed to further these skills, both as individuals and as teammates.

Model United Nations
Our middle and high schoolers model the debates and proceedings of a UN committee through the Model United Nations (MUN). They prepare to attend national and international MUN conferences and organize their own event on campus.

The Arts
Through the visual and performing arts, our students enhance their creative expression and perform to the delight of audiences. Thriving under our world-class collaboration with The Juilliard School, many students go above and beyond, performing in at least one play, the AASCA Drama Festival, our talent show, or assembly performance.

EXPLORATIONS NEAR AND FAR

On trips that are academic, cultural, physically challenging, or service-based, we’ll stretch your child’s boundaries. We’ll also nurture their skills and knowledge. In turn, they’ll gain the skills, values, and courage to become a responsible global citizen.

Local and Regional Field Trips
From Pre-Kinder through 4th grade, our students participate in local field trips that bring to life what they’ve explored in the classroom. From the 5th grade, students leave campus for a night, and then, throughout middle school, trips progress appropriately to 3-day excursions that challenge comfort zones.

Incredible Global Expeditions

CDS students can benefit from Nord Anglia's global expeditions at dedicated centers in Tanzania and Switzerland.

The Citizenship Expedition in Arusha, Tanzania nurtures global citizenship through service work with the local community. Students assist in building a village school while also learning about sustainable development and the environment.

The Personal Challenge Expedition in Les Martinets, Switzerland develops our students’ perseverance and challenges them to stretch their limits. Set in the breathtaking Swiss Alps, students hike through the mountains while working in teams to cook and navigate.

KEEPING HEALTHY AND STAYING BALANCED

LOOKING AFTER OUR WELL-BEING

We actively work to build a strong community across students of all ages, teachers, staff, and parents, and we make sure every student feels they belong here. This begins in morning meetings in Elementary School, where students discuss important topics — taking the opportunity to be seen and heard — and in our "Second Step" program that nurtures social and emotional skills through weekly themed classes.

All our students have a school advisor as their contact point and mentor to guide them through personal growth. Students deepen their social and emotional skills and learn practical techniques, such as organization and time management. Another helpful initiative is our advisory program, where our students learn about gratitude, kindness, respect, and character development, allowing for wellness and balance.

CARING THAT DRIVES ACTION

PURPOSEFUL LEARNING

Central to our ethos as a school, we help our students expand their worldview and move through meaningful experiences that work together to shape them as globally conscious leaders.

Many students lead, take initiative, and get involved in clubs that address various social concerns. These include the Zero Waste Youth Group, Student Council, Green Team, Sister School Program, Gay-Straight Alliance, Girl Up, and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). All contribute service, connect with different communities, create awareness, and raise funds or goods that benefit the environment and others.
