Good evening,

We are currently sitting around a campfire toasting marshmallows and the kids have had a super first day at camp. We got through Hamad airport without any difficulty and made it to our flight with time to spare. So much time in fact, that the pilot insisted on taking photos with each of the children in the cockpit. They all felt like VIPs!

When we arrived in Sharjah we had a surprisingly short wait to get through passport control. We were able to grab our bags and head outside where we were met by Simon from Ecoventure who helped us to get organised and onto our buses. We had a nice lunch on the bus before heading to the mangroves outside Ras Al Khaimah. During this session we waded out into the mangroves, looked at local plant life and then began our hunt for crabs. I would say that as group, we caught close to 100 crabs in total!

After we got back onto the bus, we headed for camp. The pupils (and staff) were impressed by the onsite facilities and how professional the Ecoventure staff were. We had a lovely dinner down at the canteen beside the Al Jeer marina and we are playing some games around the camp fire before heading to bed.

I imagine that they will all be ready for bed after the long day that they have had. I will post pictures of camp tomorrow on our Twitter feed and I will also send some photos (taken during daylight hours) through via email tomorrow evening.

I hope you are all well and that the stress of saying goodbye to your son or daughter this morning wasn't too stressful for you. This week is going to be one that your children will not forget in a hurry.

Kind regards,

Mr. McConviile
