Early Years 1: Bears IPC Entry Point Teddy Bears Picnic at Gharaffa

The Early Years 1 teachers were very excited to introduce the children to their new IPC topic – ‘Bears’, it is a firm favourite among all the themes covered throughout the year!

As an entry point to the new theme we invited Mums and Dads into school to join us for a very special ‘Teddy Bears Picnic’. The boys and girls could not wait to bring not only their parents, but also their teddy bears into school! Picnic mats were set up in our very own outdoor play area and everyone enjoyed a tasty snack to the sounds of our favourite nursery rhymes and songs. It was great to see all the children taking care of their bears and making sure everyone had enough to eat and drink.

As we move through our theme we will learn all about different types of bears, where they live and what they like to eat.  In our classroom we have a specially made Bear Cave were we will enjoy listening to and joining in with stories such as ‘Peace at Last’, ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’, and ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt’. We will also take time every day to use big boxes and work together to build our own Bear cave in our outdoor play area.
