All About Al Themaid

Compass International School Doha is excited to launch its fourth campus in Doha, Themaid, opening in August 2019 in the Al Themaid area of the city.

Themaid Campus is part of an ever-growing community in the Al Themaid area, which lies to the west of Doha, near to Education City and between National Day Ceremonial Road and Dukhan Highway.

Al Themaid and its surrounding areas have undergone an incredible transformation in recent years from small, sparse communities to a thriving hub for new developments in Qatar in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030. Al Themaid is now home to many schools, retail outlets, housing developments and innovative projects and is changing every day.  

Mall of Qatar, Doha Metro, Education City and Sidra Medicine are just some of innovative projects that surround the Al Themaid area.

Mall of Qatar opened in 2016 and is next to Al Rayyan Stadium, one of the host stadiums for the 2022 FIFA World Cup™. It is the biggest mall in Qatar and is an innovative shopping destination with 500,000 square metres of shopping, recreation and leisure options.

Doha Metro is one of the most important and prominent projects in Qatar and is the first railway system in the country. The first Doha Metro line opened in 2019.

Doha Metro serves key points around Doha and its suburbs with three different lines: Red, Gold and Green. The Green Line is the closest to the Al Themaid area and is expected to open in 2020.

Education City is an initiative of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development. Set on a 2,500-acre campus, Education City is the centre for education in Qatar and home to some of the world’s leading universities including Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Georgetown University in Qatar, HEC Paris, Texas A & M University at Qatar and Weill Cornell Medicine Qatar as well as research centres including Qatar Biomedical Research Institute and Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute. Education City also includes a homegrown research university, start-up incubators, technology parks, heritage sites, cultural institutions, one of the region’s largest libraries and much more.

The incredible Education City Mosque is Qatar’s premier community-focused mosque and is an iconic landmark in Qatar.

Education City will also host the 2022 FIFA World Cup™ at the new Education City Stadium. There will be many green spaces and state-of-the-art, sustainably built amenities around the stadium including football training pitches and retail shops. The nearby Education City Golf Club opened in 2019 with world-class playing and practice facilities.

Sidra Medicine is a state-of-the-art medical facility providing women and children in Qatar with world-class healthcare services. Sidra Medicine represents the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser who serves as its Chairperson. The building itself was designed by world-renowned architect Cesar Pelli and is a benchmark for healthcare environments around the world.
