Madinat Khalifa Primary Headlines | Monday, 30 September 2019 Weekly news from Madinat Khalifa Primary Campus by Mr Jimmy Frawley, Head of Madinat Khalifa Primary.

Dear Parents,

‘The aim of education is the knowledge not of facts but of values.’ – William Ralph Inge.

Last week I attended a course with a number of colleagues from Nord Anglia Education schools, where a major focus of discussions was centred on the mission and values of the school. I thought it would be beneficial to revisit and remind staff, students and parents of the mission and values of our school. These form the cornerstone of our school and are embedded in both our curriculum offerings and the personal and social development program across the school.

Mission Statement:

Compass International School Doha provides a holistic, internationally-minded and stimulating education for forward-thinking, responsible and inquiring global citizens. Our broad curriculum allows students to embrace challenge and change, and to celebrate cultural diversity in order to fulfil their potential as independent, lifelong learners in a caring and respectful community. Our ‘be ambitious’ philosophy runs through the core of our school life preparing students for future success and encourages them to be ambitious in all that they do.

Values:

Our values are directly linked to the eight IPC Personal Goals which are:

  • Adaptability – Being ready to change.
  • Communication - Giving and receiving information.
  • Cooperation - Learning as a team.
  • Enquiry - Finding out more.
  • Morality – Making responsible choices.
  • Resilience - Keep trying without giving up.
  • Respect - Thinking about others.
  • Thoughtfulness - Trying new ideas.

These are constantly reinforced across the school and help our students to develop the qualities needed to be successful in the future. The personal goals, along with our ‘be ambitious’ and ‘international mindedness’ philosophies are evident in lessons but also in the ways we recognise student endeavours and successes. House points, stars of the week and learning certificates celebrate and acknowledge the importance of these values.

Please do talk to your children about the school’s mission and values, for them to be truly effective they need to evident through the smallest of interactions between all members of the community to major school events.

Have a great week!
