Madinat Khalifa Secondary Headlines Report | Monday, 9 September 2019

Dear Parents,

We have been celebrating opportunity this week with the students.

Opportunities in the classroom, the extensive Extra Curricular Activity (ECA) provision put on by the class teachers and the outside opportunities put on through external providers.

Students were further informed how they have the opportunity for school improvement.  Student Council and Cabinet applications are currently being completed.  We look forward for the voting period, where school representatives will be selected.  I am a firm proponent of student voice and look forward to listening to the students in terms of school improvement.  We had our first house activities and we will be looking to develop that further this year.  I will be listening for ideas from the student council in how we could develop house captains.

An insight in to the character and confidence of the students we are developing at the school was shown last week at the Succeeding at Compass event.  It was an insightful evening on the organisation of the year groups and how parents can support their child.  The highlight for me was hearing Lamis who is in Year 13 talk about her Compass journey.  She began student life at Gharaffa primary and has worked our way all through secondary.

I hope to see you at our School in Action on Tuesday 17th September.

Yours sincerely

Tom Douch
