Dear Parents,

Every trial endured and weathered in the right spirit makes a soul nobler and stronger than it was before. —James Buckham

Without question, this has been one of the most unusual and challenging terms we have faced as a school. I am incredibly proud of how the Compass MK community has come together to ensure that our students have the best possible educational experience, be it in person or virtually.

I want to express my heartfelt thanks to our Compass families for their support throughout the term. Whether it has been assisting with dealing with technical difficulties, shifting schedules and juggling devices our families have prevailed. It has been wonderful to be able to pass on the thanks and positive feedback about our teaching, administrative and facilities from families throughout the school year. We have also welcome parental feedback concerning the hybrid model and we have listened and made adjustments to meet the needs of all our students.

Throughout this term our students have embodied many of our IPC Personal Goals, showing great oodles of adaptability by adjusting to changing schedules and getting used to lessons in school and online.  Resilience is another personal trait that students have displayed when faced with challenges when completing or accessing tasks. They have developed a whole new set of communication skills when accessing live lesson, utilizing the mute button, chatbox feature and even visual cues to get their point across to the class.

Every member of the Compass staff team has gone above and beyond to ensure the quality of education remains high. Our facilities teams have reorganized classroom to meet socially distancing requirements, increased the depth and frequency of cleaning to ensure the school remained as safe and sanitized as possible. Our administration team have ensured our communication with families has been frequent and clear as well as fielding many emails or phone calls. And teachers and learning assistants have had adapt their practice to meet the challenges of the hybrid model. And our IT team has been working full out to ensure our systems, online tools and hardware are able to cope with the far increased demands on technology during this period.

So, to each and every member of the Compass Madinat Khalifa Campus community, thank you again and enjoy a well-deserved winter break.

Who knows what new challenges 2021 will bring?
