Our Early Years teachers are highly qualified in Early Childhood Education and use internationally recognised, child-centred techniques in their implementation of IPC Early Years Programme and the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. Learning is delivered through a multi-sensory, play-based approach.

I qualified as a teacher in 2001 in the UK and worked for two years there before starting my international teaching adventure.  During my career I have taught all primary age groups and led both curriculum subjects as well as pastoral teaching teams.  As my career has progressed I have developed a passion for the teaching and learning of younger children so, having originally thought that I would focus on teaching science to Years 5 and 6, I have found myself drawn to the cross curricular approach and my favourite year groups are Early Years and Milepost 1.

I have been living in Qatar for six years with my husband and teenage daughter. I have worked with children and young people for the past nineteen years both in the UK and Qatar. Most recently I have worked in two international schools in Doha delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. In addition to this I have trained in assessment and verification procedures with City & Guilds in the U.K. which provided me with great insight into the variety of settings (nurseries, schools, Surestart centres), and their philosophies. This broad understanding makes me open to new ideas and professional development opportunities.

I studied Primary Education at Roehampton University in London graduating in 2015. I also completed my NQT year teaching reception at a school in London. Whilst at university I specialised in Early Childhood Education therefore I value learning through play very highly.

I am from Belfast in the North of Ireland and have just graduated from Stranmillis University College, Queen’s University Belfast. I completed my BEd degree with a specialisation in outdoor learning. My experience and interests also include behaviour support and diversity in the classroom. I have lived and taught abroad in Malta but this is my first time in the Middle East. Having assisted many schools and their eco councils, I am thrilled to be taking on the Eco Warrior ECA committee. The council and I will be promoting energy efficiency, recycling and healthy eating around our school.
