I joined Compass International School Doha in January 2016. After a successful career as a Pediatric Oncology Nurse, I graduated in 2000 as Bachelor in Education and ever since worked as a Primary School Teacher and Coordinator in the Netherlands.
My husband come to Qatar in 2013 and I visited him as much as possible. However, after a few years of traveling and a lot of visits I decided to join him and become part of the international life and community Qatar offers.
Luckily at approximately the same time, LanguageOne initiated the Dutch Bilingual Programme at Compass International School Doha. After initially teaching culture classes, I took on a larger role of Local Director of the Dutch Department in March 2016.
While living outside one’s home country it is very important to feel happy by understanding and learning a language other than your mother tongue. This enables you to communicate, develop and feel safe in your new country. From this point of view, I fully support the programme LanguageOne offers. According to my growing knowledge, mother-tongue-education is vital for children to be developed alongside the foreign language spoken in school. Working for LanguageOne gives me the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience and give young children the best opportunity to grow up in a new environment
Beside my job as a Dutch specialist and director I enjoy family life together with my husband. We both love to travel and explore the world but also go back home to catch up with our sons in Rotterdam.
