English Teacher

After completing an English Literature degree at the University of Liverpool, I was delighted to fulfil my dream of training to be an English teacher at the University of Manchester. From day one, I have enjoyed working with young people and haven’t looked back since. Following on from this, I have worked in the same wonderful school in East London for the past three years.

While it has been difficult to say goodbye, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work at Compass International School, Doha. I plan to explore Qatar, the wider Middle East and beyond. I cannot wait to enter a dynamic new workplace, take on new challenges and expose myself to a new way of life.

As one might expect, being an English teacher I am a voracious reader; my favourite authors are Donna Tartt, Kazuo Ishiguro and Ian McEwan. The book I’ll be reading on the flight to Doha is Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami. A firm believer in the adage  that a healthy body begets a healthy mind, I spend my spare time watching and playing football (come on you Baggies!), going to the gym and trying out new recipes in the kitchen (with mixed success).
