Having gained an honours Degree in History and PGCE, I began teaching in 2004 and this is now my twelfth year in the profession. I have mainly worked in the UK, but also spent five years in Beijing teaching at another international school.
I have always been keen on promoting involvement in sport. I am active in coaching and have started rugby teams in all the schools I have taught in. I was very involved in fundraising activities in China for local and international charities that had links to the school.
I am hoping that during my time at CIS that I can further develop the Humanities Department, creating exchanges and links with other Nord Anglia Schools around the world with the intention of benefitting not only our students’ exam results but also widening their awareness of the world and the way they evaluate information given to them.
My favourite quote: “Success does not come from a moment of genius or inspiration, but from consistent application of effort.” - Winston Churchill
To me 'Be Ambitious' means that the students who pass through my department will not only excel in their exams, but will also have developed their cultural awareness, self-discipline and analytical abilities. In short I hope that they will be educationally well rounded, confident and successful young people.
