Maths Teacher

I will join Madinat Khalifa as a teacher of mathematics. I hold a BSc in Immunology and Microbiology from Aston University. Following my degree I went to work as a cover supervisor in a local school, being assigned to the mathematics department. From this point forward I knew that I wanted to teach mathematics. As my degree was heavily mathematically, I then went to study and gain my PGCE in secondary mathematics education from the University of Birmingham. I have spent the last three years teaching in schools in Worcestershire and look forward to joining Madinat Khalifa in August.

In my free time, I enjoy keeping fit (as a former dancer, this is very important to me), reading, exploring my surroundings and educating myself about as well as experiencing different cultures.

My main aim at Madinat Khalifa is to guide and support students to be the best versions of themselves, both personally and academically, putting particular emphasis on certain key skills including resilience, problem solving and independence: these skills will put students in good stead for their futures.

My favourite quote is "your only limitation is your own imagination’. I think this is a fantastic quote and fosters the idea that anything is possible as long as you believe in yourself.

What be ambitious means to me: Being on a journey to achieve your aspirations, setting yourself a personal challenge or a target and never giving up. If you don’t succeed at first, try, try again.

I will be joined in Doha with my husband who will also be joining Compass as Head of History. We have travelled to many places in the world but have not yet reached the Middle East, so we are really looking forward to exploring Qatari culture.
