I’ve been teaching for about 20 years. I started out as an English language teacher, teaching both children and adults at various language schools and companies, including the British Council. I was also an examiner for the Cambridge speaking examinations. Since then, I have returned to my first love, literature; I have worked in secondary schools in England, and spent seven years in Warsaw at the British School, Warsaw, also a Nord Anglia Education School.
I have recently been studying for a master’s degree in Shakespeare and Education, which involved working with the Royal Shakespeare Company’s education department, an inspiring experience that has given me some great ideas I’m very keen to try out in the classroom!
Having worked at the Nord Anglia Education school in Warsaw, I was able to participate in lots of fantastic activities with students, such as school musicals and working in the community. I’m really looking forward to getting involved in school life in Doha, as well as discovering a new country and culture.
Outside of school, I am a keen theatregoer, and particularly like to see productions of early modern plays. I also try to do as much sport as possible, such as squash, swimming, and football. Whilst from Shrewsbury in the UK, I am a Middlesborough supporter.
