I taught in the UK for 11 years progressing to Head of Department. Enjoying both work and travel I moved to take up a post in Malaysia in 1991 teaching in an A-level college for 5 years. Wanting to teach the IB diploma and IGCSE programmes I then moved to teach in international schools firstly in Togo in West Africa followed by Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Windhoek in Namibia; Barranquilla in Colombia; Saigon in Vietnam and then Day Waterman College in Abeokuta, Nigeria before joining Compass International School Doha.
Having worked and travelled throughout Asia, Africa and the Americas experiencing many different cultures and schools it seemed a natural move to take up a post in the Middle East for the first time.
I would hope to see that TOK and Chemistry are being delivered well in the IB programme and Chemistry at IGCSE.
My favourite quote is: “If a man will begin with certainties, he will end in doubts: but if he will be content to begin with doubts, he will end in certainties.” – Francis Bacon
To me be ambitious means to try to experience as many different cultures and countries that I can.
