Science Teacher

I undertook a Chemistry with Pharmacology degree at The University of Liverpool, before completing my Post Graduate Certificate in Education in 1998. I then taught for 7 years in the UK at 3 different school in the Merseyside area. My husband and I moved to teach overseas in 2006 and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience that international life has to offer. So far we have been fortunate to have lived in 3 very different countries with varying cultures and worked at 3 excellent schools. Since 2013 we have been working at the Nord Anglia School in Guangzhou, China.

Initially I was the Head of Science at The British School of Guangzhou but since 2015 I have been the Assistant Head of Secondary having responsibility for the pastoral care of students. I am a strong advocate for women leaders, especially in education where it is important that the young people that we teach have positive role models to look up to.

Having worked for Nord Anglia Education for 5 years in China, I am pleased that I am moving to another Nord Anglia school. Being part of a large educational group has allowed me to continually develop professionally, something that is so important in this rapidly changing world. My move to Compass International School as a teacher of Science (Chemistry) is allowing me to get back to doing more of what I enjoy - which is being in the classroom, teaching.

I am excited about our move to Qatar, as it is in a part of the world about which I have very little knowledge. I look forward to the challenge of living in a country with a different culture and the opportunities that this will offer. In my time spent working overseas, I have been able to travel extensively around Asia and the Americas and I hope to be able to explore the delights that the Middle East has to offer. As well as travel, I like to keep fit and also enjoy watching sport, in particular my favourite team, Everton.
