I have been teaching in Early Years and Key Stage 1 for the past ten years. After completing a degree in Early Childhood Education, I took up the post of Nursery Teacher at the Nord Anglia International School, Shanghai. I then moved to our school in Warsaw, Poland as a Nursery Teacher and Early Years Coordinator. This role gave me a greater understanding of how children learn through the different stages, whilst allowing me to develop my leadership skills.
After my time in Warsaw, I took on the role of Reception Teacher and High Performance Learning Leader at The British School of Guangzhou. This allowed me the opportunity to continue to develop independent, child-centered learning, taking this concept through with our Year 1 students. I believe in children using the outdoor areas as part of their learning experience, using real life objects to discover and become inquisitive learners
I believe in our school’s ambitious approach, never giving up and continually trying to become the best that we can be. My MA in education from Nottingham University enabled me to explore many ways to enhance the learning experience in and beyond the classroom. As an educator, I am keen to develop learning programmes that motivate, excite and challenge young learners. We want them to make the most of their time at school as the launch-pad for a positive and productive future in society.
I moved to Qatar and the Compass team in 2019, accompanied by my wife Victoria, who is a speech and language therapist, and my beautiful daughter Eleanor Rose.
