Year 5 Teacher, Milepost 3 Leader and ICT lead

Although it has been a while, I can still recall the moment I arrived in Doha in 2011 coming from four years of teaching in London. Landing in a different country, excited at the prospect of facing new challenges and growing as a teacher. Working internationally was always something I wanted to do and working at Compass has everything I could have asked for and more.  Along the way I have taught at two campuses, Rayyan and Gharaffa, from Early Years 2 to Year 5. Yet it’s amazing how after seven years I can still learn something new every day. Something wonderful about our school and working in Doha.

Being part of a global family of schools also allows you to learn from others around the world and develops the feeling of being part of an international community. Especially during Global events that all schools are involved in.

As well as my teaching role, I have also contributed to many projects in our school. My work in 2011 to raise the profile of ICT at Gharaffa encouraged the school to purchase iPads and begin its digital journey. Being an ICT co-ordinator allowed me to help our school continue this journey and develop the use of ICT as a way of enhancing learning.

I have also led STEAM, successfully bringing together cross campus projects and working with MIT.

The one thing I’m most known for however, are my whole school dances over the years!

I am always inspired by the way the children in our school adapt and work together. Only at Compass do we get such a wonderful mix of cultures working in harmony together.

Unique to our school.

Seeing Compass grow from strength to strength over the last 6 years gives me a great sense of pride and to really know what message our school sends, read the first letter of every sentence.
