In 2015, I moved to Doha with my husband to work as a classroom teacher in Year 2. Prior to that, I was a classroom teacher in Year 5 for 2 years. It has been so valuable to bring my experience of working with the new curriculum in England to an international setting. I have always wanted to work with children and support their development and understanding of the world. It is so rewarding to be a part of their exciting journeys. In 2017, I moved on to the role of EAL coordinator, in which I support the children who are learning English as a second (or sometimes third) language.
It was a joint decision between my husband and myself, to move to Qatar and I have to say that the endless sunshine was a huge factor in that decision! Aside from that, I wanted to expand my horizons career-wise and the opportunity to see a new country and culture was too good to pass up. Being part of the Nord Anglia family of schools means that I will hopefully be able to continue to travel around the world, whilst working in schools that have a the same vision as me.
In my spare time, I love to be active and spend my time outside. When away from Qatar, I have travelled to America, Asia and all around Europe. It is so lovely to be able to share my photos and experiences of these places with the children and see the same desire to travel.
