    Amy Cullinan

I am from Belfast in the North of Ireland and graduated from Stranmillis University College, Queen’s University Belfast in Primary Teaching. I completed my BEd degree with a specialisation in outdoor learning. My experience and interests also include behaviour support and diversity in the classroom. I have lived and taught abroad in Malta and here in Doha for the past two years.

Compass International School Doha and the Nord Anglia group interested me due to the many different types of students that I would have the pleasure to teach. My interest and training in diverse classrooms has allowed me to see the benefits of multicultural classrooms for both students and staff. After teaching in Gharaffa’s Early Years Department for the last two years I am looking forward to my move to the new Themaid Campus.

Originally from South Africa, my family and I embarked on our international journey in 2001. My husband taught in the North Carolina public school system, while I accepted an administrative position in the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), for the three years we set up home in the USA.

Although my initial training and qualification was in the secretarial field, I grew increasingly attracted to the passion that teaching children promised. With this thought in mind, I decided to further my studies in education, acquiring a BA degree in Education, as well as a Certificate in Teaching. I also enrolled with the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, completing a Master Degree in Special Needs Education in 2018.
