Originally from South Africa, my family and I embarked on our international journey in 2001. My husband taught in the North Carolina public school system, while I accepted an administrative position in the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), for the three years we set up home in the USA.
Although my initial training and qualification was in the secretarial field, I grew increasingly attracted to the passion that teaching children promised. With this thought in mind, I decided to further my studies in education, acquiring a BA degree in Education, as well as a Certificate in Teaching. I also enrolled with the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, completing a Master Degree in Special Needs Education in 2018.
Subsequent to our stay in the USA, we decided to spread our wings even further, taking up teaching positions at a private school in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates.
My husband accepted a position at an international school in Doha in 2005, and so we ventured further into the Middle East, continuing our teaching careers.
I joined Compass International School Doha's Rayyan campus, in 2013, making this my 6th year with the organization.
I am passionate about travelling, having journeyed extensively through many countries in SE Asia. Our annual summer break always includes a visit to an unfamiliar destination. Professionally, I have been fortunate to have involved in continuous development through courses offered by Nord Anglia University.
