Head of Music, Themaid Campus
I have always loved music. I started guitar lessons at the age of seven and on the advice of my guitar teacher took up a second instrument and began playing the cornet in a brass band at the age of ten. I really enjoyed the excitement of playing in concerts and competitions. I went on to study trumpet at the Royal College of Music in London with Professor David Mason, most famous for being the Beatles’ trumpet player on records such as “Penny Lane” and “All you need is Love”. During my time at the Royal College, I won the Brass prize and was a member of the European Community Youth Orchestra playing with conductors such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Bernard Haitink and Claudio Abbado.

My background is in psychology and psychotherapy with a focus on well-being and mindfulness.
I am originally from Poland, however shortly after graduating high school I moved to the UK to obtain my undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications, where I also worked as a counsellor supporting people dealing with variety of issues, including special needs. I have always been keen on helping children and adults in their learning journey and improving their well-being. This led me to work for schools and university in Chile as a psychologist, personal development facilitator and counsellor and now as an ALN coordinator and EAL teacher at Compass.

English as an Additional Language Teacher
I studied Drama and Music at Northampton University, always knowing I wanted to use my degree to take me on to a PGCE which I completed at Exeter. I have taught in three very different schools in my ten years of teaching since, along with a couple of stints as a supply teacher all over Sussex, which I loved. I find it hard to choose a favourite subject because I just love to learn anything new whilst preparing to teach.
