Following gaining my BMus (Hons) music degree and Master of Arts, I undertook my teacher training in secondary education at Manchester Metropolitan University. I have taught music in England and Scotland both at second and third level education both in schools and colleges. I moved to the Middle East ten years ago and have worked in Qatar for the last six years.
I have been playing cello since I was lent a cello by my school in Scotland at the age of eight. I really enjoy giving today's students the chance to discover and learn the joy of playing an instrument. Performance work surrounds my teaching and I encourage my students to practice and perform pieces at various events. These range from playing in the mornings on the steps of the school, performance at evening concerts and taking part in local music competitions and regional youth choirs and orchestras.
I love living and working in Qatar and I have made Doha my home. In my spare time I love to sail and race yachts as a qualified skipper. I also enjoy scuba diving, cooking, writing and music performance.
