French and Geography Teacher

I am from a coastal region called Connemara in County Galway in the west of Ireland. Tourists from all over the world visit this region each year, including many from France. My interest in and love for the French language started when I was a child, so often hearing the language spoken in my area. I studied French and Geography in the National University of Ireland - Galway and completed my Postgraduate qualification in Education in the University College Dublin.

For the past nine years I have been teaching French and Geography in one of the largest secondary schools in Ireland. I was also a co-ordinator of the Transition Year programme, member of the Communications Team and Healthy Living Committee. I also thoroughly enjoyed running the French Club and coaching the French Debating Team.

I believe that when children feel safe and happy, they will learn. I aim to make lessons as relevant and interesting to students as possible.

I love to travel and discover new places. I enjoy cooking and keeping fit.

Though it will be tough leaving my school and students this year I am truly looking forward to the new chapter, the new challenges and the new experiences ahead of me in Compass International School in Doha in 2020. I am delighted to be joining the Compass community. The ethos of the school has really appealed to me from the very beginning, it is clear that it is a very happy, supportive and highly effective school community.
