In 2015, I moved to Russia to work at the Shell school on Sakhalin Island in Far Eastern Russia. In the five years I worked there I taught both Year 5 and Year 6. I have extensive experience working in international schools, particularly in Doha, across all year groups, more recently upper primary classes and with children who have English as an additional language.
I thoroughly enjoy working in education, it satisfies my need to be a life-long learner, to challenge myself to continually improve, learn new skills and better myself. Working in education gives me a sense of achievement and pride especially when I observe children’s learning improve as the academic year advances.
My philosophy of education is based around building and developing skills and traits that will be necessary throughout the entirety of our lives. Personal qualities such as being respectful, the ability to be adaptable, internationally minded, moral, resilient, reflective, cooperative, and eager to learn with good communication skills are central to the learning I promote in my classroom. I believe in a holistic approach and my classroom practices encourage learners to reach their full potential in many areas - as well as academic success.
