My interest in teaching developed after a year of carrying out some youth work in a challenging area within England. I spent six months on a Maths Enhancement course at Bradford College before completing a PGCE in Mathematics. My first teaching post was as a secondary Maths teacher in an inner-city school in Bradford, where I carried out various roles which included working closely with feeder primary schools, before eventually becoming the Assistant Head of Maths. After seven years at my first school I then moved onto another school in Bradford where I carried out the posts of Maths Lead Teacher and Acting Head of Maths.
After nine years of teaching in the UK I decided to try a new challenge and teach abroad. I moved to Qatar in 2016 and have been teaching here since. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to co-produce and choreograph a school production, which marked the 25th anniversary of the school. I have enjoyed the opportunity to experience different cultures and hope to further my experiences in years to come.
Outside of work I enjoy playing netball in a social league, going to music concerts and generally enjoying the lifestyle that Qatar has to offer.
