Hello everyone. My name is Jake Starkie. I have been a teacher now for over 6 years, teaching English and Theatre studies. I graduated from the University of Chester twice, first in 2015 earning my B.A (hons) in Drama and Theatre studies and then again in 2016 for my PGCE.
From there I haven’t looked back and have had the pleasure of dedicating my professional life to helping the young minds of the future grow. I am eagerly wishing for August to arrive. Firstly so that I can begin on this journey with Compass International school and Nord Anglia Education. Secondly to swap the -30 degrees of Kazan for the +30 degrees of Doha. I am intrigued by how different countries and cultures view education and hope to gain an understanding of education on a global level and to gain a new perspective on how it can be improved. With that being said to be able to join Nord Anglia is such a privilege.
To speak more candidly, I am a very sporty and social person. I enjoy spending time with
friends and exploring. I come from a small seaside town in the UK. In my free time I love
to play football and golf as well as running. I love putting myself out of my comfort
zone by trying anything new in terms of outdoor activities (or climates to live in for that
matter). When I’m not outside I spend most of my time cooking and looking for new
recipes to get totally wrong. It’s a nice reminder that the education process never stops.
