Curriculum Overview

At Nord Anglia International School Dubai, our highly qualified teachers support your child's education with our personalised curriculum that enables all students from age 3 to 18 to thrive in a challenging and safe environment.

The combination of the English National Curriculum and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme provide our students with the finest curricula available globally. We deliver these qualifications to give your child the best opportunities for academic success and achievement.

Our students learn with other children from around the world through our Global Campus, embrace music, dance and drama via our Juilliard collaboration and develop their creative design thinking skills through our innovative approach to STEAM with MIT.

Curriculum Overview

We follow the English national curriculum, which is broken down into Primary and Secondary school years. In Year 11, students’ studies culminate in the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations, which are internationally recognised. Following these exams, students transition to the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme or A Levels during Years 12 and 13.

Our curriculum challenges students to develop a high level of knowledge in addition to key critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Both the English National Curriculum (i/GCSE and A Levels) and the IB Diploma Programme include many real-world applications to prepare students for success. We emphasise personalised learning and deliver curricula that meet the unique needs of each student.

Key Stages

Our curriculum includes several key stages that span from early education to graduation with the IB Diploma Programme or A Levels.

Early Years Foundation Stage

Before beginning formal education, children can start learning in a safe and supportive environment. They will explore the world around them through expressive art, language skills, literacy, mathematics and physical development.

Key Stage 1

Designed for Years 1 and 2, students follow the English National Curriculum and build a foundation in topics such as mathematics, science, music, social studies and physical education.

Key Stage 2

Key Stage 2 spans Years 3 to 6. Students continue learning in an engaging, hands-on environment, developing natural curiosity, increasing independence and encouraging lifelong learning.

Key Stage 3

Students in Years 7 and 8 delve deeper into a wide range of subjects. During this key stage, students receive added mentorship from our Secondary Form tutors and increase their independence and self-awareness.

Key Stage 4

During Years 9 to 11 of the English National Curriculum, students prepare for external examinations. Guided by our highly qualified teachers they gain the skills, resources and knowledge needed to attain outstanding i/GCSE examination results. During Year 11 our teachers will guide students to explore options for their IB Diploma Programme or A Levels studies.

IB Diploma Programme

The students that choose the rigorous IB Diploma Programme for their final two years of schooling profit from a well-balanced curriculum including English Language and Literature, Mathematics, World Languages, Sciences, Humanities and the Arts. As part of this pre-university programme, students will also conduct extensive research for their Extended Essay, explore Theory of Knowledge and participate in a wide range of CAs activities.

A Levels

Students following the A Level pathway at NAS Dubai chosse four A Level subjects in Year 12 with the option to focus on three subjects throughout the two year programme. We also highly encourage all A level students to take advantage of the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) that will prepare them for university research projects as well as participate in the Duke of Edinburgh International Award.

We place a high emphasis on creating an inclusive learning environment, recognising and celebrating the fact that no two students are alike. At NAS Dubai, we prioritise personalised learning to help each student learn and grow in the way that is best suited for them. This approach includes a curriculum designed to assist students with special educational needs and learning disabilities.

World Languages

Our community includes families from around the world. We believe this cultural and linguistic diversity offers unique opportunities to connect and grow together. We offer a wide range of language programmes to help students master the  language of their choice, including:

  • Arabic
  • French
  • German
  • Mandarin
  • Spanish

Physical Education (PE) and Sports

PE helps students grow cognitive skills and understand the importance of physical activity. We provide a challenging and exciting range of activities with our school sports programme. Students can participate in a variety of sports through their Primary and Secondary education, including competitive teams, development teams, individual sports and extracurricular games.

The Performing Arts With Juilliard

NAS Dubai offers a unique programme curated by The Juilliard School in New York. The Juilliard-Nord Anglia Performing Arts Programme helps students engage with the performing arts and cultivate a strong sense of cultural literacy. Our students experience the Juilliard curriculum for music, dance and drama.
