Key Stage 3 - Years 7 & 8

In Key Stage 3 our students begin to take advantage of subject expertise and take more responsibilty for their learning. The Secondary education builds on your child's previous learning and knowledge from Key Stage 2. The transition to Secondary school can be a big step and we ensure that each student is given the support to adapt to a more challenging curriculum.

Starting in Key Stage 3, our lessons are delivered by a series of subject specialists with the class tutor having the important pastoral role of coordinating all aspects of the students' academic and social development. The class tutor also delivers the PSHE program which includes global citizenship and health education. At NAS Dubai our expectations of our students is high - all participate in the learning process and each student's contribution to the school is valued.

During Key Stage 3 we encourage active and independent learning, critical thinking and collaborative communication skills including participating in debates, leading assemblies and giving presentations. Our students represent the school at various functions and participate in the school council, charity committee and other meetings.

We aim to help prepare students for the adult world and make them more independent and self-aware. Students are introduced to a wide range of subjects and studies and are encouraged to learn and critically think for themselves. Our outstanding teachers endeavour to give your child confidence to join in, to ask questions and help others. Key Stage 3 paves the foundations for academic success at IGCSE and beyond with specialist subjects beginning to embed subject knowledge in preparation for the i/GCSEs.

Our curriculum is based on the UK National Curriculum and offers the following subjects: Arabic, Art, Computer Science, Design Technology, Drama, English, Food Nutrition, French, Geography, German, History, Islamic Studies, Mandarin, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Science, Social Studies and Spanish.

An intergral part of learning is the use of virtual learning platforms and taking part in projects within the Global Classroom, a programme unique to all Nord Anglia students around the globe.

Students will choose their GCSE options in Year 8 and begin the programme of study in Year 9, allowing for the possibility of early examination entry for some subjects in Year 10.
