Traveling Around Dubai
Dubai offers a variety of affordable and convenient ways to travel. You'll likely arrive at Dubai International Airport, the primary hub of international traffic. From here, you can easily grab a taxi or request your own private transportation using a mobile app, Careem and Uber. When traveling around the city, taxis and Careem/Uber vehicles continue to provide a popular mode of transportation. You can also opt to take the Dubai Metro, a rapid transit rail network that will help you to, quite literally, rise above the city traffic. If you have a car or purchase one in the city, you'll find impressively maintained roads that make for smooth driving — the United Arab Emirates’s (UAE) highways are considered to be among the highest quality in the world.
You might need to adjust your expectations if you're used to biking or walking as a regular means of transport. Traffic congestion, major highways and high temperatures in Dubai mean that while a pedestrian or cycling lifestyle is certainly possible, it's often not preferable.
