I graduated from Birmingham University with a B.Ed with a focus on English and Physical Education. I began my teaching career as a secondary PE and English teacher in a highly successful secondary setting and became Head of PE and deputy head of sixth form. After I decided upon a change of focus and retrained as a primary teacher. I have worked in a number of primary settings as a subject leader, year and phase leader and deputy headteacher. On completion of the National Professional Qualification for Headteachers I became a Headteacher. I have also been an executive Headteacher working across two local education authorities and worked in an advisory capacity for the local Primary Leadership team.
I championed the development of phonics in a number of settings and worked with other schools to develop a more creative curriculum for all. I was an NQT trainer, mentor and assessor. I began my international teaching career in 2012 working as Head of Primary in a 3-18 setting and led the development of the primary setting from a 2 form to a successful 6 form entry primary school. I recently worked in the UK as an education consultant, working in a variety of primary and secondary settings supporting schools to manage change, design and develop a more creative curriculum and to support and develop school leaders.
The opportunity to work at NAS Dubai was a chance for me to work in an environment that embraced my philosophy of education and belief that we have a responsibility to ensure that future generations are equipped to live fulfilled and successful lives and to be real changemakers.
When I’m not at school I am enjoying finding out about Dubai – the real Dubai. I am a passionate reader and love listening to music. I love having my family and friends out to visit and to share with them my new life.
