I graduated from the University of Northumbria, England in 2008 with a BA (Hons) Degree in Early Primary Education. I was exceptionally lucky to have my first ever teaching post in the primary school I once attended, alongside the teachers who once taught me.
My role in England was very satisfying, however I felt my knowledge and skills held value to a new challenge. In August 2014, I moved to the United Arab Emirates, teaching in a previous international school holding the posts of Curriculum Leader and Head of Nursery as well as classroom teacher. In 2018, I made my proudest achievement to date by joining the early years team at Nord Anglia Dubai and this year I am very excited to begin my new role as Head of Nursery.
The outstanding teaching ethos and pedagogy in the early years at Nord Anglia Dubai is truly
inspirational and highly innovative. I am committed to leading the team through the EYFS framework and through the ethos of child-initiated play and interests. My environment is created through a natural approach, drawing inspiration from the principles and practice of Reggio Emilia. I believe that children should be equipped with the skills and knowledge that allows them to take control of their own learning through active experiences and enquiry-based play. The children will have opportunities to work collaboratively and creatively, become resilient and confident to express their opinions and interests.
During my spare time I enjoy a good bar of chocolate, a bubble bath with candles, cinema outings, socialising with friends and visiting the many delicious restaurants that Dubai has to offer. I also adore performing arts and musical theatre so any concerts, shows or performances I love to attend.
I used to perform in musical theatre in the UK and over the years I have had the opportunity to take on the roles of various leading ladies within a theatre company in England. My favourite role to date has been fulfilling a childhood dream of playing the character of Belle in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. My passion of singing and drama will be evident in my classroom.
I am extremely proud to be leading the Nursery team at NAS and to be a part of the excellent leadership team. I am very much looking forward to meeting all the eager children and parents, where together we can embark on the fun filled year that awaits.
