Head of Primary Inclusion, Assistant Headteacher

Since completing my Bachelor of Education degree (BEd Honours) in Primary Education, I have worn many hats, including that of a Senior Leader and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) for primary schools in the UK.

I have experience of working in both mainstream and special schools with students ranging from the Early Years right through to adolescents and young adults. I have vast experience of working with students with additional educational needs, which has ranged from and included students with learning difficulties, physical disabilities and those who were recognised as being gifted and talented.

I pride myself on building strong relationships with each of the students and their families and believe the best outcomes are achieved through embedding a student-centred approach to learning. By working closely with parents and staff across the school we can ensure that appropriate levels of personalised support are in place, removing all barriers to learning, in order for every student to succeed and develop a life-long love of learning.

I am committed to supporting the needs of every student at NAS Dubai and have spent the last three years implementing individual learning provision across the school in my role as the whole school SENCO and Head of Inclusion. I am dedicated to teaching the students to become well-rounded and resilient individuals, who are not afraid to take risks. I strive to create an environment that is motivating, nurturing and fully supportive of all our students allowing them to recognise and celebrate their own unique talents and successes.

To strengthen my knowledge and expertise in the role as Head of Inclusion for Primary, I have completed my level 3 training in counselling skills for schools as well as embarking on the ELKLAN speech, language and communication qualification and Masters accredited National Award in SEN Coordination. When I am not studying for this, however, I enjoy experiencing the wonderful opportunities within the UAE alongside my husband and little boy, horse riding and basking in the glorious sunshine… which was a rarity whilst living in the UK!

Having been part of the founding team at NAS Dubai in 2014, I have been privileged to work with so many wonderful students and their families throughout the school and I am looking forward to getting to know many more of you this year.
