In 2011 I graduated from Leeds Carnegie University in the UK with a Bachelor of Education Degree in Physical Education. My first position was as a PE teacher at Fulneck School, Leeds, where I spent two years developing the PE programme within the Prep, Junior and Senior schools alongside having a role within the boarding house. In 2013 I moved to Dubai as PE teacher at GEMS Wellington Al Khail, spending two years developing the whole school PE programme with responsibilities as head of house and extra-curricular coordinator. My teaching journey has since been at NAS Dubai, where I have been able to develop the PE and sports programme, taking a lead on Primary boys sport and also as the ski trip coordinator.
As a teacher I believe that there is something for everyone in PE and that although the progress and performance of every child is very important, their health, wellbeing and lifelong participation in sport should be recognised as a major part of a PE teacher's role. In order to achieve this lessons should be enjoyable, challenging and rewarding and students should participate in our extensive extracurricular programme.
Outside of school, I have been lucky enough to play a variety of sports and be a part of many different sporting teams. These experiences have demonstrated to me the importance of being part of a team, individual commitment, never giving up and always looking to improve. Many of my hobbies focus around sport; whether it is running, cycling, swimming and touch rugby. I am a very active person and also like to follow my favourite sports teams, Bolton Wanderers and Leeds Rhinos. Away from sport I enjoy travelling, cooking and listening to live music.
I thoroughly enjoy being part of the NAS community and look forward to getting to meet and know your child.
