Jeremy Gilpin

A graduate of The University of Vermont and the University of South Florida I teach Physical Education across the Primary and Secondary school here at NAS Dubai.

As the sole American member of staff, I completed my teacher training at the International School of Beijing and worked at The British School of Beijing with our former Principal, Mr Michael Embley, for a number of years.

I have a wide variety of sporting interests as one might expect, crossing the metaphorical Atlantic in terms of being a fan of both Basketball and (the properly named) football! I believe strongly that fitness is the key to both a better life and mental agility, also that every pupil can take part to a varying degree and will benefit from the challenge.

Competitive team games and individual challenges are to be encouraged along with a "give it your best shot" attitude. Failure is a lesson to be learned from not an excuse to not try again.

Sometimes I am teased for my accent but I was a firm favourite with the pupils at our sister school in Beijing and continue to work hard for our pupils here in Dubai.

I am a father of two young daughters and am married to Chiara Marini, our Chinese teacher here at NAS Dubai.
