Kate Topping

I am passionate about teaching and the cognition of learning.

Following a PGCE at the University of Worcester, I pursued seventeen years teaching experience across Foundation Stage and Primary. During this time, I learned the importance of understanding the different stages of cognitive development and the teacher’s role in facilitating learning at the optimum time. I love to create a learning environment that stimulates the thoughts of all children in the class and promotes opportunities for enquiry. As a creative and passionate teacher, with a rigorous approach to delivering a high-quality curriculum, I take pride in tailoring an ambitious learning journey to the needs of individuals.

Prior to joining NAS, my most recent employment was at our Nord Anglia sister school BIS Abu Dhabi, where I spent almost eight years working across Key Stage One and Two. I learned a lot about what makes a happy school during my time at BIS, with its warm, welcoming ethos and vibrant international community. I have enjoyed building on this experience at NAS Dubai and look forward to teaching in Year 1 again next academic year.

At weekends and for holidays I love to spend time with my family. We enjoy adventure and exploring new destinations. I have recently taken up golf, which has been a steep learning curve and opened my eyes to the challenge of learning something completely new for the first time.
