My qualifications include a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s Degree as well as a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). I moved to Dubai 12 years ago with my husband and son from my home in West London. It has been such a great pleasure to see first-hand how education has developed and improved over the years offering a world-class standard in teaching and facilities for families in the UAE.
For the first 8 years I was a dedicated Early Years practitioner working in both FS1 and FS2, which I enjoyed tremendously. However, I always wanted to work as a Lower Primary teacher, so I grasped the opportunity 4 years ago when the occasion presented itself to move to Year 1. My wealth of experience in the EYFS became invaluable when assisting children and parents to experience a seamless transition from FS2 into the Primary school.
I am particularly passionate about teaching phonics and developing a child’s love for English in a creative way. I thoroughly enjoy planning and executing fun maths lessons, where children become inspired to develop their own knowledge both inside and outside the classroom.
It really is a privilege to share an educational journey with children who are so enthusiastic about their own learning. I have found that it is this single fact more than any other that has continued to drive me and push my own personal boundaries when it comes to creating exciting learning opportunities.
When I’m away from school and not knee-deep in recycling material to create exciting role-play areas in my classroom, I lead a very active life centered around my family, biking and cooking and developing recipes.
