I spent 4 years working in Nottingham at inner city Primary faculties, where I held roles of PSHE and Science coordinator as well as gaining experience in 4 different year groups. I had the privilege of teaching children from different backgrounds, cultures and religions, which alongside my love of diversity was the primary incentive to travel to take my skills further afield.
For the following 8 years, I worked at Nord Anglia International School, Pudong in Shanghai. During my time there I taught across three key stages and held various leadership roles, helping to shape the way the curriculum is taught throughout the Primary School. These included PSHE, Science and Literacy co-ordinator. Alongside my primary teaching, I have also taught and developed the IB Psychology programme in the school, complemented by my MSc in Applied Psychology awarded from the University of Liverpool. This has been a wonderful opportunity for me; enabling me to develop and strengthen many transferable teaching skills and strategies.
As an educator, I am dedicated to employing a range of pedagogical strategies which excite and engage the learners in my classroom as well as embracing technology in order to provide a truly modern learning experience. I harness skills such as organisation and efficiency and use them to support lessons in order to engage and extend my students learning. Nurturing students, raising the profile of high-performance learning and embedding a safe environment in which to learn further contributes to what I offer as a professional. Furthermore, I incorporate collaborative learning strategies as well as student led and independent work.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my first 5 years at NAS Dubai. The school has given me the opportunity to teach children with inquiring minds in a rich and stimulating environment. This will be my 3rd year with the wonderful Year 3 team after a decade in Year 6 and I have found it to be a most wonderful and rewarding age group!
In my spare time I have always enjoyed travelling and visiting new places but as with any parent, these priorities have changed. I now spend most of my time entertaining and being entertained by our 6 year old little comedian and 18 month toddler; two girls who never fail to provide me with laughs and cuddles in equal measure.
I am very much looking forward to meeting my new class and I have no doubt it is going to be an enjoyable and enriching experience.
