I was born and raised in the small parish of Llantrisant, Anglesey and studied Product Design BSc at Bangor University where I was also exposed to secondary teaching. With my roots buried deep in the countryside of North Wales I decided that it was time for me to broaden my horizons and see more of what the world had to offer.
Following on from my degree at I secured my first role as a Design and Technology Teacher out in Dubai. Since then my mission has been to deliver and introduce new and exciting projects to young individuals of all ages; Something I am very passionate about. In 2014, I made my way back to the UK where I taught a range of creative subjects at an Outstanding Academy in the West Midlands where I focused on 21st Centaury Technology Learning, learning environments and leading a thriving department. During my career, I have developed exciting curriculum resources and initiatives through all Key stages and having taught GCSE, iGCSE, ALevel and IB to an outstanding level of success I believe I have what it takes to excel the progress of all students.
During my time at University and as a teacher I have been heavily involved in STEaM projects and initiatives such as the F1 in Schools, 4x4 in schools, Robotics and much more; at a National and International level. My aim as an educator is to include more opportunities for the learners through curriculum expansion, working relationships with other schools within the Nord Anglia community, industry and parental links. Nord Anglia Education’s link with MIT is something that really excites me as I firmly believe that enhancing the learner’s experiences outside of the classroom through a hands-on approach is key to their academic success.
Having gained experiences as a personal tutor of all key stages over the last eight years I have realised the importance of pastoral care and academic success and how a balance of both can lead to positive emotional and social wellbeing. I am always keen to develop new ways to engage and extend my students' learning capacity by continuously reviewing and improving the students working environment and ensuring that there is a strategy in place for every individual to fulfil their potential.
Travelling and teaching internationally and has allowed me to see how globalized our society is nowadays and the important role Product Design plays in our lives every day. It is vital for us as teachers to encourage students to listen to and respond to the needs consumers, providing creative and innovative products and systems to meet the needs of future generations.
In my spare time, I enjoy breeding and showing Livestock at agricultural shows across the UK. I also run a thriving self-made Agricultural design company. Being involved with this in my spare time enables me to develop strong links with the UK agriculture industry from the comfort of my home here in Dubai. I also have a passion for travelling and outdoor activities and can’t wait to be part of the famous Arabian Adventure.
Dubai is truly unique and vibrant city and I am looking forward to being part of the Nord Anglia Family. I will bring with me a fresh outlook and vision to further enhance the subject and school’s standing and progress.
