Upon the completion of my degree I stayed in London and taught at an inner London school for six years. Specializing in teaching Resistant Materials, Product Design and Food Technology, I was also appointed as the schools Higher Aspirations liaison officer and was deeply involved in all pastoral elements of the school.
From my own school days to present, I have always had a great passion for Design Technology, because of my keen interest in problem solving and in new advancing technologies. Whilst studying at college I volunteered to assist teaching in the Design Technology department and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I have embarked on a career in teaching because I enjoy the interaction with young people and the challenging, variable but exciting nature of the job.
After teaching in London for six years I then pursued my dream of travelling around Latin America and South East Asia. In this time I volunteered as a teacher in Bolivia and upon my return to London took on additional responsibilities at a school in Twickenham. I have been able to implement new skills and techniques into my Food Technology lessons as a result of these travels. My experiences fuelled my desire to work in an international school and I am thrilled that I am in the position to do so with Nord Anglia International School Dubai.
Teaching truly is my passion and I am incredibly lucky to be in a position where I look forward to each new day and the challenges it may bring. As a teacher I am enthusiastic and positive, creating a learning environment where students approach education with energy and ingenuity.
I enjoy partaking in a variety of outdoor activities, from football and rugby to climbing volcanoes and scuba diving. I enjoy sharing these skills and experiences with students, inspiring students to take risks and fulfil their potential.
