After my degree in English Literature at Newcastle University, I returned back home to the South West, where I completed my PGCE in Secondary English at Exeter University. I worked in Bristol for a further two years before deciding I wanted to explore the world and pursue a career in international schools.
I am passionate about global education. I believe that the subject of English is vital in allowing students to share their opinions, learn about, and communicate with people from different cultures; fundamental skills in today’s globalised world. I encourage all students to be as creative, reflective and critical as possible, which can lead to lively debates! I promote this beyond the classroom by establishing debating groups and competitions, such as the World Scholar’s Cup.
I am an English examiner for the International Baccalaureate and Cambridge IGCSE and I look forward to helping develop the English IB programme at NAS Dubai, with the exciting expansion into Sixth Form.
Following an incredible 3 months backpacking around South East Asia, I try to travel whenever I can! I am an avid reader and theatre-goer and, as a dedicated “foodie”, I can often be found eating my way round the new restaurants of Dubai!
