My pathway to education came following the completion of a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geography and Economics at the National University of Ireland Galway. From there, I completed a PGCE in Geography at Manchester Metropolitan University. I began my teaching career in an Outstanding school in London, where I gained extensive experience in UK KS3 National Curriculum, GCSE, IGCSE and A-levels. In 2016 I moved to Dubai where I taught at another premium school, gaining valuable experience in both the IB Curriculum and Positive Education.
My goal as a Geography teacher is to promote student interest in the world around us by building student interest in current affairs and human processes. I am extremely passionate about my subject and believe that Geography is a crucial aspect to any young person’s development. Not only does it cover many relevant world issues and phenomena, but it also provides students with a sense of place and belonging.
I pursued a career in teaching to have a positive influence on the lives of students, assisting them in reaching their full potential and supporting them in developing their self esteem. As a Head of Year in my previous schools, I gained experience safeguarding the health, welfare and safety of my students. In the classroom I aim to create a positive learning environment where every student feels valued and cared for.
Outside of the classroom, I have a passion for travelling and grasp every opportunity to explore the many different countries and cultures of the world. I am very much looking forward to getting to know all of my new students and becoming part of the NAS Dubai community.
