During my career to date I have worked for four years in Liverpool and seven years in Dubai. The many key responsibility roles I have undertaken during my career, including Second in Department, Head of Mathematics, Head of Sixth Form and more recently, Assistant Headteacher, have given me a wealth of experience on both a pastoral and academic level.
I have been very lucky to teach students from a wide range of backgrounds and have extensive experience with the UK KS3 National Curriculum, GCSE, IGCSE, A-levels and IB. The examination results attained by my classes over my teaching career have proven that my teaching in the classroom has a positive impact on both the attainment and progress of my students.
As a keen advocate for the IBDP, I believe that as educators, it is our responsibility to provide our students with the skills, attitudes and attributes required to become well-rounded, ambitious, internationally minded young adults who are respectful of themselves, each other and the world around them.
During my spare time I enjoy running, cycling and reading. A traveller at heart, I love to explore new countries during the school holidays, often taking inspiration from my students on their experiences and home countries. Having introduced the KenKen challenge to NAS Dubai, I can now often be found trying to solve a 9x9 puzzle!
I am a firm believer that Mathematics is not a subject to be taught but to be discovered. I believe that teaching Mathematics through investigation is the key to developing a love and a passion for the subject. It is my continued aim as a teacher to ensure the development of the whole student through a positive and challenging experience within lessons and an extensive enrichment programme.
