Secondary Science, M.I.T. Leader

I have always had a passion for science. However, it wasn’t until I studied it at the National University of Ireland, Galway that the true extent of my passion came to fruition.

Upon finishing my BSc in General Science and Physiology, I decided I wanted to share my love of the subject with others.

I made the short journey across the pond to Nottingham where I completed my PGCE at the University of Nottingham, before establishing myself as a teacher in a great Nottingham school.

I then moved to a new partner school as assistant head of science and leader of KS3 science, where I acquired a range of new skills to further assist my development as a classroom teacher.

The chance to work in an international school has always been something which has appealed to me. The challenges of a new environment combined with the chance to progress on an international stage are a fantastic opportunity.

Enthusiasm and displaying a passion for my subject are central to my classroom practice. I believe students should always be stretched to their full potential and exposed to a wide variety of experiences in the wider school community, in order to prepare them for life beyond the classroom. I pride myself on building positive relationships with students which further enhance the depth of learning, both academically and socially.

My second passion in life is Gaelic football. I have played from an early age and enjoy the comradery of being part of a team, both as a player and a coach. Sport provides many opportunities of meeting new people. Aside from Gaelic football, I enjoy playing football and golf.

I am happy to have embraced this new challenge at NAS Dubai, working in a vibrant international environment.
