During my teaching career, I have also had teaching and learning responsibilities for University links and technology in the classroom. I am a mentor for the University of Westminster’s CDC mentoring scheme which encourages post-graduate students to gain experience in their chosen profession. This experience has equipped me with the knowledge to guide and advise students in their pursuit of life-long careers.
I studied English Language and Literature at the University of Westminster and studied education at a post-graduate level in a combined degree from the University of Essex and the University of East Anglia. The language modules in my degree developed skills of detailed and contextualised linguistic analysis enabling me to understand literature at a deeper level. It is at this depth that English becomes most interesting and enlightening and I love being the bridge that assists students to this level of understanding.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy the visual arts and its various branches of creative activity such as dance, music, poetry and painting. I have toured with the National Youth Ballet and English Youth Ballet and feel expression in dance to be fiction represented in performance, further demonstrating my passion for literature – a passion that I strive to instil in my pupils.
