Penistone is a secondary school providing education for 11-18 year olds. For four out of my five years at Penistone I have held a position of responsibility; initially as Key Stage Three coordinator, then Teaching & Learning coordinator and currently Second in Department. I have experience in delivering all aspects of the UK national curriculum including teaching GCSE, iGCSE and both A-level mathematics and A-level further mathematics.
I was inspired to become a teacher during my own education, where two particularly ‘stand out’ teachers encouraged me to follow their lead and become driven to inspire the students I teach, as they did for me. I have a passion for my subject and my wish is to always show students how great mathematics can be. My classroom is a positive learning environment which reflects this, I encourage and enable all students I teach to strive and achieve the highest of outcomes, as evidenced by my examination results over the last 5 years.
Outside of the classroom my biggest interest is sport! I enjoy watching most sports particularly football and my beloved team Sheffield Wednesday. I equally enjoy playing football, as part of a staff team and a local amateur side. Outside of sport I love live music, attending gigs and festivals both within the UK and abroad over the years.
I believe there is more to education than purely academia, with extra-curricular activity playing a crucial role in developing well rounded young individuals. I have been able to combine my passion for football with extra-curricular at Penistone, having coached the Y10 boys football team for the past four years. I look forward to being heavily involved in the extra-curricular activities at NAS Dubai as well.
