I have always been passionate about ICT and Technology and the educational benefits it can provide young people not just within the curricular area of ICT and Computer Science, but also within other curricular areas. I was born and raised in Scotland and studied at Strathclyde University. I received a Bachelor of Technology in Software Engineering, Computer Architecture and Networking. After I graduated I furthered my studies at Strathclyde University and received my PGDE in Secondary Education. I have over 10 years of teaching experience with an additional qualification in Guidance/Pupil Support.
During this time I have held two acting promoted posts as ICT Network Support, Pupil Support and had whole school responsibility for Developing the Young Workforce scheme working with colleges, universities, and employers across various sectors.
I like to actively promote a positive, inclusive and aspirational ethos which enables all young people to achieve their potential as lifelong learners. I have developed a teaching style which fully embraces the dynamic curriculum set out for students and throughout my career I have gained thorough knowledge, understanding and development of all ICT areas.
My interest in helping others surpasses the classroom into the wider community. In the space of five years I have cycled 444 km across the Canadian Rockies, climbed the Andes in Peru to Machu Picchu, trekked to Base Camp on Mount Everest and cycled 500 miles from London to Glasgow all to raise money for people less fortunate than ourselves.
My wife is also moving to NAS Dubai and will be teaching Music. I am really looking forward to my move to Dubai and to have the opportunity to work in a fantastic school in the UAE.
