Having grown up and attended school in London, I have enjoyed the experience of living in a multi-cultural and active city, which has prepared me well for living and working in Dubai.
Since qualifying, I have been working for three years at an outstanding secondary school just outside of London, teaching students from 11-18 years of age. I held the position of Head of Year 8 and 9 Mathematics and particularly enjoyed the challenge of raising attainment across all areas of mathematics.
Teaching is an immensely fulfilling career and I feel incredibly fortunate to be in a position where I look forward to going to work each day. I strongly believe that education and therefore learning must be an enjoyable experience for all involved, so I am creative with my approach to teaching mathematics by including interesting, relevant and fun tasks, discussions and activities during lessons.
I also encourage students to take an active role in other aspects of school life. This has given me the opportunity to build skills to positively influence the experience of pupils, and I continuously aim to add more value to the community at NAS Dubai.
On a personal note I have harnessed my love for the outdoors through my work with the Duke of Edinburgh Award. I have relished the opportunity to build upon my relationships with students outside of the classroom by actively supervising various weekends of practical skills such as map reading, hill walking and camping.
